Installation

In normal working conditions no manual operation is required once the system is switched on. The volume in both directions is pre-set per position by screwdriver adjustments accessible from the rear of the cabinet. The three buttons in additon to the “ON/OFF” button are included to take care of special conditions which may occur during use: “Microphone selector” button with lamp for switching to an optional microphone fitted to the operator’s unit. This enables handsfree communication even in periods of high noise levels on the operator’s side.

The “Stand-by” button with lamp is used to set the system in listen mode with reduced volume which reduces the ambient noise from the public side during waiting periods. The “Push-to-talk” button to amplify the operator’s voice on the public side and enables distinct communication in periods of high noise levels, as well as for attracting people at a distance from the counter. It also allows the operator to speak with normal conversation voice level to people with hearing difficulties. When stand-by is not in operation, the push-to-talk button will give normal simplex operation without extra amplification. Active simplex function is indicated by the corresponding LED.

Screen microphone and loudspeakers

One electret microphone and two loudspeakers are installed on the public side of the glass partition. These elements may be attached to the glass, partly concealed or completely built into the screen. The standard microphone kit and loudspeaker kit contain all materials necessary for mounting on the public side of one Bi-Way position. The microphone and its connecting cable is concealed in a thin aluminium profile attached to the glass screen by means of selfadhesive tape. The profile can easily be adapted to glass partitions of all types.

The compact loudspeakers are attached to the glass on either side of the microphone profile which may terminate in the loudspeakers and allow hidden cabling between the three elements. The loudspeakers are also provided with self-adhesive tape but they may also be fixed to the frame of the partition, or the wall, by means of screws.
