The AlphaCom XE system provides carrier class system availability and protects resources in an IP environment by using embedded IP security mechanisms. The main security mechanisms used are restricted management access, separate management interface, internal firewall, integrity check (MD5), virtual LAN (IEEE 802.1Q) and network access control (IEEE 802.1X).

The telephone is well suited for outdoor usage – due to the thick aluminium casing with easy opening door, the stainless steel materials, the steel cable into the phone from bottom, and the fluorescing keypad. The telephone can handle heavy duty usage in indoor and outdoor environments.
The heavy duty outdoor telephone is easy to use with a full keyboard with large buttons. Function keys are for :
